Obama's a pain at the pump

Washington Times -- Get ready to pay a lot more than $3 a gallon to fill up your car during peak driving periods this spring and summer. More pain at the pump is the inevitable result of the Obama administration's carrot-and-stick approach to dealing with America's energy woes.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar last week announced new leases for offshore oil and gas drilling, which will take effect in 2012. While news reports characterized the decision as a bold response to the nation's energy needs, reality is quite to the contrary.

Within a month of taking office in 2009, Mr. Salazar froze drilling leases already approved by the outgoing George W. Bush administration. Then he imposed a six-month public comment period to precede his decision on whether to allow new drilling.

He and other liberals want an European-like-America. Tiny two seat cars with most of the public getting around on public transit whose expenses are mostly paid by very high gasoline taxes.

Sorry folks, but I am on my soapbox.......

I don't know about all of you but, the more I read the news stories about gas prices and oil "futures", the madder I get. Come on America, it's time we put a stop to being used and abused. Let your legislators know that you are not going to stand for it anymore. Let them know that THEIR job is at stake. They put us in the position that OUR jobs are at stake... We CAN do the same to them. They work for us, remember??? Time we remind them of that.
Darn it. I am MAD!!!!

We already have plenty of clean burning natural gas to replace oil and gasoline! We could get off sending our dollars to OPEC now if we wanted too. ...I am not addicted to oil! Give me a choice, bring on the Bloom Box, eliminate the electric grid and Nuclear waste....."

So much FAIL in this post.

I am not addicted to oil! Give me a choice, bring on the Bloom Box, eliminate the electric grid and Nuclear waste. I will drive an electric car to get my groceries and we will cut co2 in half!
Credit the Bloom Box invention to India. China is leading the world in Solar and wind energy. Wake up America! Are we afraid to do anything?

Rooster: You are delusional. Talk about not getting it. It is time for all to start emailing or calling their representives in Congress to really give them an earful on high and still rising energy costs. Obama's advisors have a death wish if they think over $3 gas will lead to blissful alternative energy development and ultra conservation. It is time for mandated insulation standards for all new buildings and solar hot water heating. The time is now.

I don't believed there will be a mass unemployment like what the wall street have done if the cost of gas go up to $7/gal. It's painful at first but we will adjust and injure. Example Europe, Japan, Asia, etc. they all survive until this economic down turn cause by financial sector. Eventually, people will invest on oil drilling and will look for cheaper alternative and most of all will force us to Conserve, which will not happened at this current price.

Let's look at the bigger picture, assume price of oil is stable, it does not stop price at the pump go up. It could be the result of weak dollar, then blame the oil.

If BHO has his way we will be paying $7 a gallon for gas. At the rate he is destroying jobs many of us won't need to drive as much if we are unemployed.

I Agree!!! We should of all(TAX PAYERS) been given a check... We could of stimulated the Economy by buy things (car, frig, washer, drier, carpet, new roof,ETC.

When you build a house you don't build the roof first ...You start with the Foundation (US)...
You don't give it to banks(the roof)...
Because they are not giving out loans to help us prosper...

The Obama administration has many problems. First, and to me, and most importantly the President and Congress should ave been working to get Americans back to work instead of squandering valuable time and resources on trying to revamp health care (which may not be perfect but it is nowhere near as broken as the economy). Also the government should never have bailed out the big financial institutions nor the automakers. If Congress had given every legal citizen of this country $20,000 it would have not run up such a debt as the way that they took; and many people would be considerably better off. That would have been a far better stimulus bill than what we have and the economy would most likely be far better off.

People will talk about holding incumbents accountable. But there is always such a small percentage that get out to vote that many of the same useless deadbeats end up staying in office.

This responce from Obama is not surprice. When attempting to make changes, weather it be from politics or private businesses, there will be some negative parts too it. The thing will politics is that they still have to keep the public, espeically votes satisfied. That does include a lot of demands.

Stuff like this will also take a long period of time as well.
