The fact the earth is shaking a lot right now is only coincidental to the new process of fracking. The whole earth is entering a period of geologic instability not just in the US. I believe fracking is possibly only responsible for some of the minor tremors in the 2.0 or lower range.

Very misleading. Just how often was fracking used over each of the last 7 decades?

What makes you think that "a Hydrogen Bomb" can't cause an earthquake?

So if we are to believe US Government scientists, would they also say that this years warm temperatures and unusually high number of tornadoes in the central US are caused by fracking?

Aviator_Rob was right "That's why republicans like slashing education. Keep your voters ignorant so they won't ask any uncomfortable questions."
The kids wouldn't be in ghettos pushing drugs for money to live, if they had a better education and could get a real JOB. Something the Rupublicans these days know nothing about - creating JOBS! Their master plan: keep everyone stupid, so they don't know that the Republicans are running away with everything in their great power grab! And the Rich get Richer...!!
Wake up people! Obama didn't do this, the Republican Congress that keeps blocking his good ideas DID!

Time to get all this stuff sorted out, I am more concerned about the water purity. These minor earthquakes just might be a warning to you.

Romey08, you said:
"Let's look at a longer historical data not just three years"
Had you actually read the article, you would probably have noticed the second paragraph, which said:
"Researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey said that for the three decades until 2000, seismic events in the nation’s midsection averaged 21 a year. They jumped to 50 in 2009, 87 in 2010 and 134 in 2011."
Had you done two minutes of reading, you would have been a lot smarter.

USGS must have gotten stupider over the years. Earthquakes are formed at the deepest parts of the earth, at the 15-20 mile range. Injecting frac fluids into the ground at 5-8 thousand feet will create a earth quake how hard you try.

And you base this on what science? I bet you still believe cigarettes are not harmful. After all "some" scientists said so, didn't they?

As with global warming, the fracking debate is bound to get so intensely heated (on both sides) that voices of reason will be lost in the noise.
